Save Missing Girls - Blog
![]() People living in an urban environment often lead a sheltered life. Very few comes across the victims of sex trafficking and when they do, it turns to be an eye-opener for them. Not only does it teach to be compassionate towards the vulnerable section of the society but also makes you aware of the struggles that a trafficked victim faces in her life. To combat human trafficking, Kolkata - based Photographer and installation artist Leena Kejriwal initiated a campaign called Missing. The objective of this art-to-inspire project is to create awareness of sex trafficking by constructing larger than life black silhouettes of young girls signifying how girls are disappearing from the face of the earth in a snap. The volunteers who joined the drive with Missing later revealed that the entire experience was soul-enriching and community-centric. Working with the main lady was an experience itself, said one of the volunteers. Once you interact with the survivors, you start feeling that they are nothing different from us, in fact they even harbor the same ambition like us. In spite of not getting adequate education, the girls they interacted with were incredibly clever and have a good knowledge base.
